Ashtanga Fundamentals – An Intro to Mysore



Ashtanga Yoga is a traditional form of yoga that puts the practitioner first.  Ashtanga and Mysore can be intimidating to start, but this workshop will aim to create a solid foundation. You will feel confident walking into Mysore or a Led class with the basics of what exactly is Ashtanga and what is Mysore.


About this workshop:

*We will cover the history and philosophy of this practice.

*We will go over foundational techniques: the Tristana Method (breath banda, dristi), Sun Salutation, and more.

*The workshop will be split between a discussion and movement practice.

This workshop is perfect for beginners looking to start a yoga practice as you will get the opportunity to work 1:1 with the teacher. This workshop is also great for those that already have an established practice. Please come with questions as this is meant to be conversational!

About the facilitator:

Cassie has been practicing Ashtanga since 2018.  She has studied with Authorized Level II Teachers, Dean Hollingsworth and Taylor Hunt.  She began teaching in 2019 and took a hiatus in 2021 to deepen her own practice as well as her teaching.  She spent a year Mentoring under Taylor Hunt and another Apprenticing learning to teach both the primary and second series of Ashtanga.  She understands this practice is transformative and hopes to share that with others! Her latest endeavor is a 40 hour course with Dr. M.A. Jayashree covering the yoga sutras and learning the traditional sanskrit chants.
