Ayurveda + Yoga Retreat
Pura Vida! I’m beyond thrilled to be hosting your next Ayurveda Yoga Retreat in one of the most magical blue zones in Costa Rica. This will be my 3rd visit to this particular area of Costa Rica – it truly is my “om away from home.” I can’t wait to share this experience and the serenity of the blue zone with you as I host, teach, and offer you the kind of retreat that I would want to attend.
There will be plenty of time to unplug, rest, and reconnect with YOU at our Ayurveda Yoga Retreat in Costa Rica! I also want to immerse you in the culture and the amazing people who live here. Some of what you can expect is an opportunity to contribute to the ecosystem by planting a tree with one of my favorite organizations, snorkeling with the beloved sea turtles, horseback riding, ziplining on one of the tallest and longest ziplines, and a visit to the local farmers market.
From our farmers market finds, I will offer a cooking class with my favorite Costa Rican chef! Of course, there will be yoga, sunrise meditations, and offerings to support you in taking this experience home with you.
I strive to create an experience that is fun, relaxing, and expansive. Join me in watching some of the best sunsets I’ve ever seen!

AYURVEDA YOGA RETREAT LOCATION
Welcome to Nosara
Jade Retreat Center
In 2013, in the quaint surf town of Guinones, Jade was born and has won numerous awards for its design.
Here, you will wake to the tropical gardens, howler monkeys, and exotic birds and after a day at the beach, enjoy a refreshing swim in the serene saltwater pool.
Around both sides of the pool are 5 stand-alone bungalows with private terraces. There are two additional private garden bungalows covered in lush flora and fauna where you will see hummingbirds and butterflies.
All rooms have private en-suite bathrooms, AC, wifi, and safe, with room to relax and spend time alone.
The common dining area and yoga shala are bright, open, and surrounded by local vegetation.
What I love about our location is that we are the only group on site. The staff is positive, happy, and ready to help with whatever you need.

Transportation
Complimentary transportation to and from the airport is provided as part of your package. However, please note that arranging your air travel is your responsibility. Please refer to the FAQ section below for helpful airport tips and travel suggestions to assist you in planning your journey.
In January, I will host a virtual meeting where we will delve into logistics and planning details together. This will provide an excellent opportunity to address any queries and ensure everything is meticulously arranged for your retreat.
Free Time
Retreat, at its core, embodies a journey to recharge both your body and mind. Achieving this entails embracing stillness, turning inward, and disconnecting from the daily hustle—a task often challenging for many in this fast paced culture. Trust me when I say, Nosara makes this transition seamless! Throughout this retreat, ample time is allocated for relaxation and the pursuit of inner tranquility. However, for those seeking an adventurous spirit, myriad opportunities await! Feel free to unwind with a good book or express your thoughts in a journal while lounging at the beach or swaying gently in a hammock. Immerse yourself in a jungle nature walk or stroll along the unspoiled, expansive beaches for endless miles.
If you’re drawn to adventure, cultural experiences, and contributing to the ecosystem, why not embark on an excursion that includes swimming alongside sea turtles, engaging in tree-planting initiatives, and feeling the rush of ziplining? These are just a few of the thrilling activities available for you to explore and make a meaningful impact during your retreat.
feed your soul
If you know me, you know I’m passionate about delicious, healthy, and fresh food. In Nosara, where the growing season lasts all year and the sea is nearby, this is a culinary paradise!
We use locally sourced fish, fruits, and vegetables prepared by our private chef following traditional local recipes. You’ll even get to experience the local farmers’ market with me, and I’ll host a cooking class using our market finds. Enjoy all-inclusive meals presented beautifully in our spacious open dining room.
Facilities
What’s truly special is that our retreat stands alone at Jade, offering exclusive access to all the facilities. You’ll enjoy complete, private use of the retreat center amenities, such as the open-air yoga shala, a communal room stocked with games, a well-equipped kitchen, surfboards, and ample serene spots to unwind amidst stunning flora. Additionally, we have a skilled massage therapist available for on-site bodywork sessions, highly recommended for a relaxing experience. I’ll also be offering marma therapies during your stay, adding to the rejuvenating experience.
FAQs
In general, flight costs range from $200 to $400 for a one-way trip, varying based on your departure day and city of origin. Larger hubs tend to offer cheaper tickets. For instance, American Airlines provides direct flights from DFW to Liberia. Weekdays usually offer more affordable fares. Many opt to arrive a few days earlier or extend their stay due to the reluctance to leave this amazing place.
Liberia International is the closest airport, about a 2 hour drive (very convenient by Costa Rica standards!). You can also fly into San Jose, and we can arrange a shuttle for you there too. The drive from San Jose is 4 hours (instead of 2), but the roads are mostly paved and the countryside is beautiful. It’s a great adventure!
Jade Nosara is conveniently located (especially for Costa Rica) just a 2 hour drive from Liberia International Airport. I will arrange your shuttle to/from the airport. Costa Rica is a Spanish speaking country, but they are accustomed to tourists and there are many expats in the area. You can generally get around just fine speaking broken Spanglish.
Costa Rica is very safe, that is one of the reasons why I love it and feel comfortable bringing groups here. The country as a whole is peace promoting (they do not have a standing army), and the people could not be more kind and welcoming. The Costa Rican motto is, after all, “Pura Vida”, meaning pure life. You will hear it spoken often! But we don’t take any chances, for your safety we will have a guard on the premises every day.
July is their green season, which means that rain is possible. What I have experienced, is brief periods of light rain mid-afternoon, perfect for napping, reading, and journaling! As the rainy season transitions to summer, you get the perfect combination of plush green forest and beautiful days! The weather tends to be warm in the day and slightly cool at night.
Not in my experience. I’ve been to this area 3 times, and in all my experience, the bug situation is not bad! Just a few mosquitos. Nothing a little bug spray can’t handle. And Jade Nosara itself has a built-in natural bug-repellant system! That being said, we are in Costa Rica, you will see some interesting critters and monkeys!
Not to worry, most people come solo! It’s the perfect vacation to have on your own. Within days you will feel like you have a new group of friends and a Costa Rican family. And I’ll be with you every step of the way!
Nope! Every year we have people who have never done yoga before, and some who are very experienced. It doesn’t matter where you fall on the spectrum. The yoga I teach is foundational and everyone will benefit.
The difference in price really comes down to accommodations, location, time of year and curriculum. Jade Nosara is located in the blue zone of Costa Rica – this is a small area where people live to be over 100, and is a highly energetic area. In the past decade, this area has become more popular and expensive. My belief is, the benefits of being in a blue zone far outweigh the difference in price. You will also be in a private, luxury retreat. Often less expensive accommodations are either grungy, no a/c or hosted in big centers with multiple retreats happening at the same time. This means you share the space, studios, pools with other groups. I prefer to take my groups to small, private retreat centers. This way we can really relax, connect, and create the peaceful vibe we are all looking for. Every room has its own private bathroom and you will never have to share your room, or the pool, with a stranger.
Bookings are fully transferable to another retreat. If you cannot go, for any reason, we will try and find someone to take your place. If you find your own replacement*, there is no charge for transfer. If we find your replacement, there is a $250 processing fee plus any credit card fees associated with the transaction. In the unlikely event that you can not find a replacement by the start date, 50% of the total cost of the booking fee can be used as a credit towards a future retreat. If the retreat is canceled due to unforeseen reasons, you will receive a credit in full to use toward a future retreat or event. (*all replacements must be approved by Christina prior to finalizing the transfer) Credit card fees incurred are not refundable.
Yes, why not? 3rd party insurance is inexpensive, and gives you peace of mind. If you want help finding the policy that is right for you, I am happy to help.
