Losing weight around your Vata region

If you’re not losing weight around your Vata region (abdomen and thighs) despite cutting calories and increasing movement…there’s a reason!

SO many clients come to me feeling exhausted by this rhetoric.

I know you’ve heard it before:

Calories in < calories out = weight loss.

If only weight loss was actually that simple.

Ayurveda has another way of looking at this.

And it explains why eating less and exercising more is actually the reason your body is holding onto weight around your belly.

Here’s what happens when you combine HIIT + skipping meals: This combination, specifically in women, signals to the body that it is not safe.

Intense exercise aggravates Vata and Pitta (and your stress response).

When your stress response is activated, cortisol elevates. Elevated cortisol encourages fat storage, particularly around the belly.

Skipping meals causes the agni, or the digestive fire, to become irregular.

When agni is unstable, the body clings to Kapha, which tends to accumulate in the midsection, in order to protect itself.

While this feels incredibly frustrating, it’s also pretty incredible! After all, your body is literally protecting you!

There’s also a gentler way to lose weight and feel great.

Ayurveda’s approach is about finding what works for you.

This means nourishing your body with the diet, exercise, and practices that are most supportive for your mind-body. After all, you are YOUnique.

Not sure what those are? We’re here to help!
