Nettle | nature’s multivitamin

Nettle is nature’s multivitamin as it is loaded with essential vitamins and minerals. It’s a superior source of micronutrients, vitamins, and minerals, such as Vitamin A, B complex, Vitamin C, chlorophyll, calcium, iron, and zinc – a true superfood! From the Ayurvedic perspective, Nettle is considered balancing to the Pitta and Kapha doshas, for its astringent, cooling, and pungent qualities and its ability to cleanse the rakta dhatu, blood tissue.

Stress Support

Nettle supports the adrenals and strengthens the body’s response to stress. By supporting both physical and emotional stress, Nettle is great for grounding, calming anxiety, and recharging the body.

Anti-inflammatory

Nettle is an alterative herb, which is a classification of herbs that cleanses and purifies the blood aiding in the removal of toxins from the body. It nourishes and tonifies the overall system by gently cleansing the body, purifying the blood,  removing toxins, and improving circulation. Because of its tightening and cleansing properties of the rasa dhatu, lymph system, it’s a wonderful herb for cleaning kin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. These nourishing and cleansing actions support us in fighting infections, immune health, and overall vitality.

Women’s Support

My number one way to use nettle is for its rich iron content and its

natural blood-building properties. It’s an excellent herb to fight fatigue, cramping, and other symptoms of PMS. Because of its high iron and calcium content, I add this into my loose-leaf pre and postnatal herbal teas.  Nettle also cleanses the liver and enhances the liver’s ability to process estrogen more effectively, which supports women throughout their menstrual cycle.

Respiratory Support

As a lung tonic, nettle is great for those with asthma, pneumonia, coughs, kapha-type mucous, and allergies such as sneezing, congestion, and watery eyes.

Nettle can be found in our SimpleVeda loose-leaf Allergy Tea, our Women’s Moon Tincture, and our Women’s Wellness loof leaf Tea that supports mood, healthy menstruation, stress relief, energy, and vitality. Stop by our apothecary and infuse nettle into your wellness treasure chest!

Yoga poses for digestion

Ayurveda teaches us that the 3 Doshas can accumulate in specific body areas. The abdomen, lower back, and upper thighs are the major regions of the vata dosha.
